The Wirral Model Car Club is one of the oldest established radio control car clubs in the country. It has its roots way back in 1976 when a few guys got together to race 1/8th scale cars in West Kirby on a small track adjacent to the waste recycling centre. This eventually developed into the Wirral Model car club in 1978 when the two founder members, Dave Vine and Mike Rimmer met. Together with a few others the club developed into a thriving group leading a nomadic life for a few years before eventually settling into the Grosvenor Ballroom in Wallasey, racing 1/12 scale and then buggies. We have now settled in the Neston Civic Hall in Hinderton Road and race very Tuesday on a first class carpet track using square plastic downpipe as the track markers.
We race Scale Saloon, with a monthly handicap, Mardave V12's and Micro Buggies/trucks.
The Wirral Model Car Club are also heavily involved in the organisation and running of the annual
This series of races, which is now in its 6th year, is run monthly from September to April with racing taking part one Sunday per month on a carpet track . It caters for Scale Saloon, Mardave V12 and 1/18th Scale Trucks/Buggies. The racing, whilst very competitive, takes place in an extremely friendly atmosphere and caters for all levels of experience.
If you want to experience the fun and thrills of Radio Contolled RC Car Racing in the Merseyside area then come along to the WIRRAL MODEL CAR CLUB.
